Hummingbird Pancakes


Within the last few years, I have become aquatinted this hummingbird cakes.  They are quite delicious.  I actually made a hummingbird cake for my birthday this year.


I made a hummingbird cake for my birthday this year.  It was pretty epic.  Hummingbird cakes are banana caked packed full of pineapple and pecans.

Jam and Brie Sandwich


I grew up eating open faced jam and cheddar cheese sandwiches.  They are still a favorite of mine.  We wouldn't melt the cheese on the bread.  It was a simple sandwich to make.


This brie and jam toasted sandwich is a rift on that idea.  I made this on sourdough bread.  It wasn't a complicated sandwich, but it was  delicious.

Beet and Berry Salad


In February, I went to Ocean City, Maryland with some friends for a short weekend getaway.  While we were there we ate at this delicious restaurant.  I ordered salad that consisted of beets, berries, and roasted shrimp.


It may sound like I was trying to be healthy, but it was a delicious salad.  It was beautiful too.  I knew then that I would try and recreate the salad at home.

Ghormeh Sabzi with Chicken


This is the first Iranian recipe I have tried ever.  The Iranian new year, Nowruz, just happened in March.  I saw a few Persian recipes floating around the internet in anticipation, and I decided to give one a try.



I must have Iran on my mind, because I went to an Iranian restaurant for my birthday.  Anyway, Nowruz has been celebrated for over 3,000 years in the Caucasus, Balkans, Central Asia, and Western Asia.  It is on the vernal equinox.

Chocolate Coconut Pancakes with Mini Cadbury Eggs


Another Easter themed recipe! I'm on a roll!  It will also be the last Easter recipe I post this year.


My Easter plans this year are pretty low key.  I'm going to go to Church, and afterwards I am going to a friends house for a late brunch.  It's in the afternoon, but we are eating breakfast food so I think it still counts as brunch.

Sugar Cookies with Coconut Grass and Chocolate Eggs


I rarely make cute desserts for the holidays, but I felt inspired last week.  I had a little extra time on my hands, and I wanted to bring something fun to a party I was going to.


I have made season desserts in the past.  A couple of years ago, I made sugar cookies for Valentines day that I rolled in red sugar and added a chocolate heart.

Roasted Brussels Spouts in Mango Nectar Glaze


This week week just flew by.  I'm happy it's Friday; it was a busy week, but I'm a little surprised it is the weekend already.  


I'm a big fan of Brussels sprouts.  They are probably my favorite vegetable.   I'm a fan of vegetables, so that is true praise.
